Hannah Höch was a German Dada artist. She is best known for her work of the Weimar period, when she was one of the originators of photomontage. She started Dada because women back then were not able to do much because men thought that they should stay at home and do nothing.
Hannah Höch didn't agree with this so to show the men this was wrong she started to create collages to show their independence.

In this picture I think she is trying to emphasise that putting on make up and having a good hair cut might not make a women any more beautiful.

I think this picture is trying to prove that society is changing people, and making them put on a fake smile even though inside they're not happy.
